Community Service – Term 4 Update

In Term 4, our school will be refining how we communicate community service to parents. To ensure transparency and stronger partnerships between home and school, parents will now be notified via email each time their child is placed on community service.

Community service remains an important part of our behaviour support strategy. It provides students with an opportunity to reflect on their choices while also making a positive contribution to our school environment.

Students may be placed on community service if they are chewing gum or wearing incorrect uniform that cannot be immediately fixed. When this occurs, staff will explain to the student why they have been added so that expectations are clear.

Updated Mobile Phone and Smartwatch Policy

Following a recent review of our Mobile Phone and Smartwatch Policy, we would like to share two important updates with families:

1.  Phones Away at the Gate

From the moment students enter the school grounds, all mobile phones must be put away. This applies at the school gate and continues throughout the day.

2.  Clarification of Consequences

  •  For repeat offences, a parent or carer will be required to collect the device from school.

  • If collection is not possible, Executive or Wellbeing staff may use their discretion to return the phone where there is a significant safety concern. In these cases, an alternative consequence may apply—such as arranging a parent meeting or setting a future confiscation.

The updated policy aims to ensure a consistent approach while balancing safety and wellbeing considerations. A full copy of the revised policy will be published on our   school website during Term 4.

Year 8 Boys Rugby Programme

The Year 8 Boys Rugby Programme has been a huge success this term. Under the guidance of Mr Elston, the boys have not only developed their rugby skills but also strengthened their understanding of how our school values shape their actions both on and off the field. Each week, Mr Elston has spoken with the group about the importance of maintaining high standards at school, reinforcing that the discipline, teamwork, and respect shown on the rugby pitch are equally vital in the classroom.

We are so pleased with the positive impact of the programme that plans are already in place to expand it to Year 7 next term. We look forward to seeing even more students benefit from the opportunity to grow in character, teamwork, and school spirit.
