Stage 6 English

Our Stage 6 Standard English students have been developing their essay writing skills through a targeted focus on introductions, conclusions, and body paragraphs. The aim is to build their confidence and precision when structuring extended responses, while deepening their understanding of how to convey ideas with clarity and sophistication.

To achieve this, students have been engaging with high-quality exemplar texts and model paragraphs. By deconstructing these samples, they are identifying the features that make writing effective, including vocabulary choices, sentence variety, and the use of cohesive devices that link ideas smoothly.

A key part of the process has been guided exploration whereby students use annotated notes and planning frameworks to craft their own work.

Through these activities, students are improving their writing skills.
