Kindergarten 100 Days of Learning
Last week ended with our celebration of a very special milestone with the first 100 days of formal schooling at St Matthews for our Kindergarten cohort.
Just like scoring a hundred runs in cricket or climbing to the top of a tall mountain, reaching 100 days for these wonderful students has taken courage, persistence, and joy — one step, or one school day, at a time. Families enjoyed afternoon tea, had an opportunity to read books, but also join together as a school community. Kindergarten shared some memories of the year to date and were joined by their Year 6 buddies, who met the families and chatted about the opportunities our Year 6 and Kinder students have had together this year. The afternoon concluded with a short liturgy before families were farewelled for the weekend.

We thank our wonderful school community who were able to share this beautiful occasion with us and eagerly look forward to many years of Catholic education at St Matthews for these families.
Mobile Phones and Smart Watches
The Mobile Phone and Smart Watch Policies remain in place to support the safety and privacy of all students at St Matthews and by informing students and families, we prevent lost, stolen or damaged items not allowed at school. We also prevent distraction in the classroom learning environment and privacy issues relating to photos, phone calls and unsupervised online activity that may occur at school. The policy in place relates to either device:
- Smartwatch: a mobile device designed to be worn on the wrist that can do any of the
following: receive and/or send messages, receive and/or make phone calls, have access to
the internet - Mobile phone: a telephone with access to a cellular radio system so it can be used over a
wide area, without a physical connection to a network.
The policy states that students in Primary (K-6) are not to bring personal mobile phones or smartwatches to school. If required for any reason, they should be handed in to Student Services in the office at the start of the day and collected at the end of the day. Placing them on School/Parent Mode will not be accepted as an alternative. Any messages that need to be given to students throughout the day, we’d ask you to contact the office.
We thank the school community for their support with this matter.
