A story of Compassion…

Sympathy looks in and says, “I’m sorry.”
Compassion goes in and says, “I’m with you.“
Sympathy looks in and says, “I would like to help.”
Compassion goes in and says, “I am here to help.“
Sympathy says, “I wish I could carry your burden.”
Compassion says, “Cast your burden on me.“
Sympathy often irritates many words.
Compassion helps and hears in quietness and understanding.

“A teacher was teaching math to a class of six-year-olds, several of whom were refugees from other countries. The topic was fractions. They defined what a half and a quarter were, and then asked the children to write down whether they would prefer a half or a quarter of a chocolate bar. As the teacher walked around the room, they noticed that some of the new students wrote that they would prefer a quarter of the chocolate bar. The teacher thought they would have to re-teach the lesson, as the students didn’t appear to understand that a half was bigger than a quarter. Asking the students why they would prefer a quarter of the chocolate bar, one little girl replied, ‘So that more people could have a piece of chocolate.’'
