Schools Recommendation Scheme
The Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) is one way institutions make early offers of undergraduate admission to Year 12 students. They do this by using criteria other than (or in addition to) the ATAR. Closing date 16 September 2024.

Regional and Remote Entry Scheme
This scheme offers undergraduate students who live in regional or remote Australia entry on a reduced ATAR, plus a range of additional support.

Admission to an undergraduate degree based on a reduced ATAR.

the Vice Chancellor’s Global Mobility Award, valued at up to $5,000 for eligible exchange programs.

Support transitioning from school to university.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scheme you must:
-
be a domestic student
-
be applying for an undergraduate degree
-
have lived in a regional or remote area at the time of your University Admission Centre (UAC) application, or
-
attended a regional or remote school and be a recent school leaver (graduated in the last two years and have done no further study).
Regional and remote definition
According to the Australian Statistical Geography Standards (ASGS), your residential address or school must be classified as one of the following:

Inner Regional (ASGSI)
-
Outer Regional (ASGSO)
-
Remote (ASGSR)
-
Very Remote (ASGSV)
The ASGS utilises geocoding technology to assign each school and individual street address an Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Area Value. View the ASGS map to learn more.
High School Leavers
If applying while at high school or in the following 12 months, you must complete year 12 studies at a school in Australia.
Commencing undergraduate student scholarships
If you’re a domestic student who wants to commence studying in an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney, you can apply for most scholarships through one application form.
We're dedicated to supporting you throughout your time at university. We offer a wide variety of scholarships for domestic undergraduate students. To make the process easier, we've created a single application form where you can be considered for most of our domestic undergraduate commencing scholarships.
Applications opened 1 July
To be considered for a scholarship through this application form, you need to:

Submit a UAC application and list the University of Sydney as one of your preferences. You will need your 9 digit UAC ID to apply through this form.

Have access to your full year 11 results and your half-yearly year 12 report or HSC trial results, or a tertiary transcript.

If you want to be considered for Equity-based scholarships, complete an Educational Access Scheme (EAS) application in UAC, including submitting relevant documentation, by 30 September 2024.

Complete the Commencing Undergraduate Domestic Single Scholarships Application Form
These steps MUST be completed by 30 September 2024.

SAE Scholarships
SAE offers a range of domestic scholarships to assist students during their studies, including full and partial tuitions. Scholarships link

Complete a simple application form that includes your current school name and the course you wish to study.

An SAE Course Advisor will then chat with you about your course options and confirm your eligibility.

Discover UNE Scholarships and UNE Early Entry Program
The UNE direct Early Entry program uses your school's recommendation to guarantee you a course offer, whether or not you’re expecting to receive an ATAR. Round 2 applications are open until 14 October, so there’s still time to apply. The free, direct online application takes about ten minutes to complete and does not require UAC/QTAC application. Round 2 offers are released on 15 November, and if required, include a place in UNE residential college accommodation. Visit UNE Early Entry for a list of eligible courses and to apply. There’s still time to apply for the UNE Early Entry Program!
The UNE Scholarships for Commencing Students
If you apply for UNE Early Entry, you can also apply for a range of scholarships to help you throughout your studies. There are scholarships for students: who have achieved high academic results who come from rural areas studying specific degrees in disadvantaged groups who excel at sport; and/or who live in a residential college.

It takes years of dedication and full-time study to become a doctor so, you need to take a long view when planning your medical pathway, starting in high school. The earlier you start your research and begin immersing yourself in the medical world, the better!
School Subjects Prerequisite subjects are ones you must study in order to be considered for a course. For medicine, they are often English, Chemistry, Maths and sometimes other sciences. While biology isn’t necessarily a prerequisite, studying it at school will help in your first couple of years of medicine as it’s the foundation to most of your learning.
